Gunday is old wine in a new bottle, it tastes awesome!

Not sure if it's a perfect film to watch on Valentines Day but let me assure you that you won't regret paying for the ticket of this film. It's packed with action, emotions, friendship, drama and some terrific performances.
The story is set in the backdrop when Bangladesh was formed. It highlights the fact that a lot of people became refugees because of the partition. This film tracks the story of two friends Bikram (Ranveer Singh) and Bala (Arjun Kapoor) who are now based in Kolkata in the 70s. (when it was called Calcutta). Their childhood scenes are so long that I thought the two heroes will make an entry post the interval but thankfully I was wrong. As kids Bikram and Bala try to earn their living the right way but destiny had other plans for them. A journey that starts by stealing coal from a train eventually makes them the biggest coal mafia in Calcutta. They are the Gunday but on the side they do a lot of charity work like starting schools and hospitals.

ACP Satyajeet Sarkar (Irrfan Khan) is called in to put an end to their illegal business and to nail them down. All is well between the two best friends till they fall in love with a cabaret dancer Nandita (Priyanka Chopra).

Post the interval there are many twists and turns that keep the film engaging. The film works very well because of the chemistry between the boys and that's the USP of this film. Both are constant through the film. Ranveer Singh has the confidence and Arjun has worked hard and reached this level. Priyanka Chopra continues to surprise us with another brilliant performance in Gunday. Irrfan Khan makes a strong presence felt though he doesn't have too many scenes.

Music by Sohail Sen is good. Better music would definitely add to the film.

Action and cinematography is very good but some effects like the scene where Arjun Kapoor's character blows up a godown is done in a tacky way.

Gunday is an entertaining film. It's old wine in a new bottle and it tastes awesome!
