Interesting historical facts about Brahmins.

Please read it fully. Muthuraman Krishnamoorthy: Came across this interesting analysis
Brahmins - Victims are penalized!
They say: 1. Indian Brahmins have been oppressing the lower caste population in India. 2. Brahmins introduced the inhuman "untouchability" 3. Brahmins are cunning, parasitic exploiters and creators of the iniquitous caste system. 4. Indian sub-continent's biggest problem was 5000 years of Brahmin oppression! 5. Brahmins never allowed others to read and write or to learn Sanskrit! 6. Brahmins are arrogant, dis-respective, communal and abusive extremists who whip the dalits (lower caste Hindus) till they die. 7. Brahmins exploited and continue to exploit everyone else. 8. Brahmins authored the Hindu scriptures just to ensure their own highest position in the social hierarchy.
The list is endless! And any educated person believes this as 100% truth. Even those who born in today's Brahmin caste are apologetic about their birth due to these "truths"! However, these 'truth' arguments clearly lack historical validity and logical consistency. It is merely a case of “repeat a lie a hundred times and it will become the truth”. (Joseph Goebbels' theory).
It is amazing to see that how fiction can become truth in course of time! Let's examine truth based on facts and real history. To start with, there is no SINGLE Brahmin god in Hinduism! All gods are from backward castes, dalits and tribals.
Brahmins never created the concept of Gods in Hinduism. There was no even SINGLE Brahmin King that ruled India. To be able to oppress others requires positions of power.
The Brahmin’s traditional occupation was that of temple priest (purohit) officiating religious functions. Their sole income was Biksha (alms) given by the land-lords (non-Brahmins).
And another section of Brahmins were teachers, that too without salary. Vedic literature was mostly written by non-Brahmins! The most powerful of the dharma shaastra, that gives Brahmins a high status, is the Manusmriti written by Manu, a non-Brahmin.
Brahmin means a profession (Varna) - not a caste. If the reading and writing of Sanskrit was confined to Brahmins then how do you have the tribal Valmiki composing Ramayana? Ved Vyas, who classified four vedas and wrote Mahabharata, was born to a fisher-woman. Sanskrit was used mostly by non-Brahmin writers - there are very few scriptures in Sanskrit authored by Brahmins.
We consider the teachings of Ved Vyas, Vashishtha, Valmiki, Krishna, Rama, Agasthya, Vishwamitra, Shrunga, Gowthama, Buddha, Mahavira, Tulsidas, Thiruvalluvar, Kabir, Vivekananda, Gandhi, Narayana guru etc as most valuable.
If none of them were Brahmins why cry so much about Brahmin didn't allow you to learn? There are numerous works on bhakti by non-Brahmin bhakti saints.
Brahmins never prevented others from learning. Brahmins were neither rich nor powerful at any point of time in history. Pick up any old Indian story book, you will see ‘Garib Brahmin’ (Poor Brahmin) quoted as a virtue. (Remember Kuchela-Krishna story?)
Though their profession was considered as highest stature of the society, the Brahmin ascetics' only way of survival was alms given by people.
The biggest contribution of Brahmins is sustaining the best language ever spoken in the earth - Sanskrit. If you learn English or Arab, you have commercial benefits. Nobody ever promoted Sanskrit.
Without any benefits, Brahmins took up voluntary task of learning Sanskrit. Then, now you accuse them of monopoly in Sanskrit!
After reading all this can anyone blame Brahmins for anything !! 👆pl forward to as many as possible and kill this virus of misinformation dividing the Society.

7. Namkovil Annanaar(elder brother)- Name given by Aandal when Ramanuja went to Srivilliputhur Temple and offered 100 cups of sweet porridge (Akkaaravadisal) to Maaliruncholai Azhagar in Madurai, as per her wish which was expressed in Nachiyar Thirumozhi.
8. Thiruppavai Jeer – When Ramanuja sung the Thiruppaavai songs while he went for begging he was termed by the people of Srirangam as Thiruppavai Jeer. Also there is another interpretation ie. name given at Srirangam after Ramanuja swooned on seeing Athuzhai, daughter of Mahapurna, mistaking her to be Nappinnai (since he was so absorbed in the meanings of Thiruppavai pasuram).
9. Bhasyakarar – As per the wish of Alavandar, Ramanuja wrote the Commentary [Bhashyam} to Brahmasutra in accordance with Thiruvaymozhi, and so he became famous by this name. Also it is said the name was given by Saraswati at the Sri Bhandaram library in Kashmir because of his authorship of Sri Bhasyam.

But Ramanuja climbed the temple Gopuram straightwaway, called out for people and taught them the mantra. Nambi was not impressed on hearing this and said by doing this Ramanujar will go to hell as he disobeyed his Acharyan's directions, Ramanuja sought his pardon saying he was aware of this but he thought if crores of people benefits after hearing this, he was prepared to go to hell. CHELUVANARAYANA SWAMY TEMPLE ( MELKOTE )

The temple is a square building of large dimensions but very plain, dedicated to Lord Cheluva-Narayana Swamy or Thirunarayana. The utsavamurthi, which is a metallic image, represents the deity who is called Shelvapillai, Cheluva Raya and Cheluvanarayana Swamy, whose original name appears to have been Ramapriya (meaning "Rama's Favourite"). It is believed that this utsavamurthi belonged to and was worshipped by Lord Rama and the kings of the surya vamsa Dynasty for generations. Later the same deity was given to a king of Chandra vamsam (the dynasty of Lord Krishna) and was worshipped by Lord Krishna and many generations. So CheluvaNarayana is so unique that he was worshipped by both Rama and Krishna. According to a legend, this metallic image was lost and was recovered by Sri Ramanujacharya. The annual report of the Mysore Archeaelogical Department (p. 57) states on the strength of epigraphic evidence, that the presiding deity of this temple was already a well-known object of worship before Sri Ramanujacharya worshipped at the shrine, in December 1098, and even before he came to the Mysore region. The temple is richly endowed, having been under the special patronage of the Mysore Rajas too, and it has a most valuable collection of jewels in its custody. As early as 1614, the Mysore king Raja Wodeyar (1578–1617) who first acquired Srirangapatna and adopted the Srivaishnava faith, handed over to the temple and the Brahmins at Melkote, the estate granted to him by Vijaynagar king Venkatapati Raya. On one of the pillars of navaranga of the Narayanaswami temple is a bas relief about 1.5 feet (0.46 m) high, of Raja Wodeyar, standing with folded hands, with the name inscribed on the base. He was said to be a great devotee of the presiding deity and a regular visitor to the temple. A gold crown set with precious jewels was presented by him to the temple. This crown is known as the Raja-mudi, after his name. From the inscriptions on some of the gold jewels and on gold and silver vessels in the temple, it is learnt that they were presents from Krishnaraja Wodeyar III and his queens. Krishnaraja Wodeyar III also presented a crown set with precious jewels. It is known after him, as Krishnaraja-mudi. Vairamudi or Vajramukuta, another crown of great value, seems to be older than Raja-mudi and Krishnaraja-mudi. All the three crowns are kept in the safe custody of the Government at Mandya Treasury and brought to the temple on a specific annual occasion known as Vairamudi which literally means The Diamond Crown for adoring the image of Cheluvanarayana Swamy. The Vairamudi festival, which is the chief annual celebration, is attended by more than 400,000 people. Jatras are held annually during March–April and more than one lakh people congregated here. In 1785, Tipu Sultan gave some elephants to the temple. A number of inscriptions and records of the place speak of the land grants and gifts to this shrine. Perhaps the fort on the hill was built during Hoysala period. The renovated temple has a beautiful gopura.

Raamanujaa Charya

Anuja is younger brother. Ramanuja is Rama’s younger brother. That is Sri Lakshmana. Ramanuja was named Ilai Azhwar. Just as Lakshmana stood with his elder brother Sri Rama, as his first assistant in carrying out his tasks of dushta shikshana and shishta rakshana, Ramanuja also carried out the same tasks being the foremost kinkara of Lord Ranganatha. Lakshmana appeared in Treta Yuga. Ramanuja appeared in Kaliyuga. Sri Rama’s avataram is vibhava form of Sriman Narayana. Sri Ranganatha is the Archa Avatara form of the same Lord Sriman Narayana. One is Mahavishnu and the other is Adishesha. Shesha and sheshi. Nara and Narayana, Rama and Lakshmana, Krishna and Balarama, Mahavishnu and Adishesha, We have already acquainted ourselves with the Para, Vyuha, Vibhava, Archa and Antaryami forms of the Transcendent and Immanent forms of God along with the meaning and significance of the Lord’s descents vis a vis our destiny and deliverance. (Tenacity to keep in mind what we read and learn and apply the lessons learnt to realize their truth in our day to day dealings is what is the practice of religion. Philosophy is to learn and understand. Religion is to practice and implement. Religion and Philosophy go hand in hand in our Motherland unlike elsewhere where philosophizing is only a cerebral exercise while religion a dogma or a given code to follow. Kindly revisit our earlier postings and keep track of the technical terms to get more benefit out of our studies here. Let not the ideas get evaporated at the very moment of reading them. Let each posting equip us to understand the subsequent postings better.. ) Krishna and Arjuna, Ranganatha and Ramanuja, all such pairs demonstrate that Precept and Practice coexist and when these two meet fulfillment is assured. That is what the Bhagavadgita declares: The significance of the term Ramanuja is immense and profound at once. Rama can mean Balarama and Ramanuja thus signifies Sri Krishna as well. Sri Ramanuja combines in himself both the Sesha and the Sheshi.
