Om Panchaachaarya Samaashrithaya Namaha
“Salutations to the one who holds on to five preceptors.”
As
we have seen earlier, Sri Ramanuja imbibed the traditional spiritual
wisdom from various sources and streams through elderly preceptors of
his times. Of these, five acharyas, viz., Periya Nambi, Tirumala Nambi,
Tirukkottiyur Nambi, Maladharar (Thirumaalai Aandan), and Vara Rangar
(Thiruvaragatharaiyar) are typically narrated in our tradition.
समाश्रित means ‘one who surrenders’. पञ्चाचार्य means five preceptors.
